A message from Mr Captain 2024
It's a great honour to be the 2024 Buxton and High Peak Golf Club Captain. Ever since my first visit to the club in 2003 I have always been warmly welcomed to the club and I would like to extend that warm welcome from myself and all the members to any visitor or guest who comes to BHPGC.
I started playing golf when I was 9, I was given some cut down irons and got hooked on golf. I joined Penrith Golf Club and played there for 10 years, before leaving to take up a job in golf and moving down to Manchester.
In 2003 I was introduced to Buxton and High Peak Golf Club and over the years played it many times. During this time, I have seen the course get better and better. It really has become a fantastic hidden gem of a course. The standard of fairways, the challenge of the course (especially in the wind and occasional Buxton rain) and the quality of the greens make it a fantastic course and test of golf all year round. It really is a joy to play and everyone who plays here will say the same.
During the last 7 years I have worked with club junior section, coaching the future of the club and growing the section. Being junior organiser, I have seen first hand some fantastic youngsters coming through, and now as Club Captain I want to ensure the juniors continue to be welcomed warmly into the club, which will continue the fantastic growth of the section.
As Captain there are so many fantastic events you are apart of, and I am looking forward to each of them. Many of these events give me the opportunity to raise vital funds for my chosen Charity, Kidneys for Life, a Manchester Childrens Hospital based charity, supporting children and their families who are affected by kidney disease.
2024 promises to be a special year for me and my family and I hope to be able to enjoy it with all the members of Buxton and High Peak Golf Club.
